    Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) is used to measure how many, where, and when passengers board or alight from public transportation vehicles. Xovis' APC sensors measure passenger counts in real-time and in observance of data privacy rules on all types of public passenger vehicles.

    Better data for better planning

    Precisely counting the number of passengers entering and exiting public transportation vehicles is a proven method for improving operational efficiency. The high accuracy of Xovis' APC sensors means operators don't have to second guess the data, improving decison-making and alignment with internal and external stakeholders. 

    (1) Accurate passenger data. A complete sensor portfolio with APC devices for nearly all public passenger vehicles, including buses, trams, light rails, trains, ferries and gondolas. Sensors can fulfill the accuracy requirements defined by the Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen (VDV), ensuring highest passenger counting accuracy up to 99%

    Here are a few details in advance. As you are maybe aware of, we offer two different product families for Public Transport. The APS-R and APS-R-PoE as well as the APS-B sensor.

      

    The APS-R and APS-R-PoE are specifically designed to meet the rigorous standards of the railway industry (EN50155) also meeting the requirements for road vehicles (E1). Datasheet APS-B

    Both sensor types are uniquely flexible and allow for simple setup in just a few minutes. With outstanding high resolution 3D image quality, excellent low-light sensitivity and very low latency, the latest generation of Xovis Germany GmbH (APS) are the ideal platform for a wide range of predictive solutions that go far beyond counting.
     
    Using this technology, the sensors generate separate counting results for adults, children, bicycles and wheelchairs while suppressing false counts resulting from non-person objects.
    Counting results are being communicated using industry standard protocols like ITxPT and VDV-301 (IBIS-IP) as well as other common IT protocols such as SOAP/XML Push Service or Local File Recording and FTP upload. A board computer must be available in the vehicle to host the PCS application. This PCS application is not provided by us.

     With the optional object classification, counting results can be reliably output for the object classes adults, children, bicycles and wheelchairs.

     To proof the accuracy of the captured statistic, the sensors can record video, count events, and metadata in their internal memory for later evaluation. Recording can be controlled by digital input, pre-scheduled timers or communication protocols.

    Easy installation and setup is one of the main focuses for our devices, along with accurate counting. The sensors offer a unique and largely automated way of setup and you can even reduce cabling by using our unique AI-based Start-Stop-Recognition instead of relying on a physical door contact.
